Hello All!
Sorry it has been so long but I kind of have an excuse. I have a bun in the oven and the little guy has kept me slightly preoccupied. So while I was building has crib this morning I was thinking of all the little animals I want to knit for him including a fox, porcupine, and a squirrel to just name a few. My friend Karen said she is going to knit him a slug! I never thought a slug could be cute but this one is!
So I finished those beautiful leg warmers out of Manos Rittenhouse a while back. They are so beautiful and cozy, perfect for the winter we have been having. It truly has been a wonderful winter for knitting!

Fall is Right Around the Corner!

So we have had many people visiting which was wonderful but it put me behind in my blogging and knitting. I am working on the "Moch Cardi" from Gudrun Johnston out of Green Mountain Spinnery Sylvan Spirit. It is easy social knitting and I can't wait to wear it! I am also working on the Cabled Legwarmers "Tahawas" out of Adirondack accessories from Manos del Urguay using Rittenhouse Merino 5-ply. They are working up so beautifully that I am already planning new outfits to showcase them. The next project that is on deck is Mac & Me pattern for Yoga Socks (a new pattern line for the store). This is one of her older patterns but it is so perfect for this time of year, the floors are a little chilly in the morning but you want to still feel grounded. I am going to use Spud & Chloe sweater weight since it can be machine washed and dried and feels like a cloud on your feet!!

Lake Placid is done!

Lake Placid is done and if I haven't said it before I love Manos! This band was really enjoyable and the crown knit up in one night. Hand warmers from the accessories book next!

It has been an amazing day here in Brattleboro, in the 70's and breezy. It could not be more beautiful. I have spent the last day (when I have been at home) making cupcakes for my fathers 70th Birthday, I have snuck in a few minutes here and there to knit. I am working on this beautiful shawl from knitty out of the new yarn from Schaefer "Audrey". The construction is really interesting and the yarn is like heaven. Check out the pattern and I will keep posting pictures with my progress. http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEff10/PATTcoquille.php
Cheers!

Even though it is late in the season I decided to knit a little cotton vest because it is just plan adorable as well as falling in love with the organic cotton yarn called "Samp'a" that I did the green baby halter top out of. The vest worked up quickly and is too cute for words. The cable panel up the front keep me entertained for long enough. The pattern is from the Mirasol Book #8, and this sweater is not the only adorable thing in it, not by a long shot! I will post a picture of the finished product soon, I have to rewash it because the second I finished it got dirty.

SOCKS!

Socks are just the most wonderful summer project, small and quickly finished. I just started carrying Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn for a self stripping yarn that is a little heavier then most classic sock yarns. It was really fun to work with and people are always impressed by the color changes. I used my own basic sock pattern that you get free when you buy the yarn or you can purchase the pattern alone
(you can always check my website www.knitordye.net/www.knitordye.net/Patterns.html) If you like the Noro sock yarn and you mention this post get 20% off of it! The two socks worked up differently color wise because they are two different sizes (Mommy & Daddy).
Also some new colors of "Ann" and "Audrey" from Schaefer Yarn came in. Let me just say, A-MAZ-ING!
Knit on through the heat!

A hot and steamy day in Brattleboro

It is a hot and steamy day in Brattleboro but in Knit or Dye it is a cool fall day getting ready for the coming winter. I unlike most prefer the Fall and Winter, the only thing I really enjoy in the summer that I can't do in the winter is swimming. Time and time again I hear people saying that they don't knit in the summer and to me that is like not breathing for 4 months of the year. I am rarely found with out a project in hand, including BBQ's, at the bar, even floating down the river in a tube. There are so many projects to be made for the whole year that I would never complete them all, I have a tough enough time keeping up with them all now.
Every time I call my friend Stephanie (owner of Frabjous Fibers) she is over a dye pot cooking up something wonderful that undoubtedly will take my breathe away. She and her Husband are so lovely and the best part is they do drive by yarn drop offs for me. As they come down Canal St approaching disfunction junction and my store they call and give me a 1 or 2 minute eta. I stand outside of my store and wait to see the lusciousness that I will be handed through the window of the car. When I am lucky they get a red light and I get to chat with them but usually they hand me a bag bursting with color that immediately elicits ow's and oh's from anyone in the store. I adore having amazing fiber artists in our wonderful teeny tiny little town of Brattleboro.
